Keira Knightley (and Dominic Cooper in the first photograph) on the set of Saul Dibb's The Duchess in 2007. They filmed all over England, including locations such as Bath, Bristol and London / Costume Designer: Michael O’Connor, who won the Oscar for Best Costume Design at the 2009 Academy Awards: '..Georgiana was beautiful, an inveterate gambler and an influential political operator. But she was also very unhappy - married to a powerful older man who preferred her best friend, Lady Elizabeth Foster - caught up in a ménage à trois. '"Bling" was the word Saul Dibb (the director) used to describe Georgiana's public persona'' said Michael O'Connor of Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire (7th June 1757 - 30th March 1806). He put Knightley in a military-style riding outfit for when she takes to the hustings (above) and in a dramatic gown with a towering head-dress of ostrich feathers for an extravagant social engagement seen here, which apparently caused Knightley a lot of pain.. It's not a very good quality photograph, but if I had to choose my favourite look it would be the rather plain (well compared to the others) 4th picture, for the scene where she has to give up Eliza (I'll say no more! I don't want to ruin the plot for those who haven't seen the film yet..) {Photo Source: sweet-keira.net}
